Eb introduced today's special guest speaker.  Today, CAR welcomes Gustavo Rahmer, of the Mt. Lemmon Sky Center.  Gustavo Rahmer has more than 25 years of experience in technology research and development for astronomy. He is an electronics engineer with a master's in Imaging Science from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He is currently the Senior Instrumentation Engineer for the Giant Magellan Telescope, under construction in northern Chile. Previously he has worked at NOIRlab, the European Southern Observatory (in Germany and Chile), Caltech, and the large binocular telescope observatory at the University of Arizona. Gustavo was born and raised in Chile, host to many of the world's largest astronomical observatories.
The University of Arizona Mt. Lemmon SkyCenter is an exceptional science learning facility located at Steward Observatory's "sky island" observing site.  The SkyCenter builds upon the uniqueness of the 9,157-foot summit of Mt.
